Mail Champlain is on Taschereau Boulevard in Brossard, right beside the Dix30 district. However, only the covered part of Mail Champlain are included in this directory. From the highway it’s easy to think that the two are one and the same, they’re not! No need to cross the street or go upstairs. The building itself is spacious and the map ensure you pick the right entrance. Going through the wrong door will turn what should of been a quick shopping trip into a lengthy stroll indoors.
Tap the search box in the top-left corner and it zoom to that unit. Open just one category if you don’t know who’s there; leave the other ones closed. Services, Electronics, Beauty, Food and Fashion is all broken out into their own lists. That way a meal spot won’t get lost amongst phone stores, and a salon won’t hide inside the clothing list. Sidebar names and yellow shapes opens up the same note. The note tells you precisely what kind of thing the place is: A browsing store? It could be a repair shop. It could be a restaurant. Is it a counter?

Scroll around (or zoom using the button in the bottom-right) with the pointer positioned over the map. On a phone in the parking lot, full-screen make it easier to see what row the map drawing matches up with, so you can find your car. Look for small stores near bigger stores. If you need to find a store for something, look at larger stores nearby as a frame of reference. For example, Sports Experts tells you exactly where on that floor sporting goods is (assuming the big box is big enough). For general shops to stop by, think of Dollarama. When you’re looking for clothing, think of Best Buy Express as a handy reference point. If you’re going to buy some electronics instead of clothes, that doesn’t help much. And don’t expect to find your way from a kiosk in the middle of a corridor.
After finding one big reference point, your next stop should be within walking distance. There shouldn’t be any reason to loop around the floor again. Think of McDonalds: a recognizable food item and note if it is a sit down restaurant or a counter service establishment. That’s more descriptive than the highway sign you might recall.
A lot of space is devoted to fashion in this kind of one-floor mall. Beauty shops, jewelry, shoes; these all has their own needs aside from clothing stores. If you’re there to do some shopping for clothes, stay in that category rather than wandering the wings on hope. Phone shops also tend to be traps. While plans, cases, and repairs is close together, they offer differing services. The description on the map clears it up beforehand so you don’t end up lining up at the wrong counter. Some things need appointments: services like banks or clinics. On the drawing, you can see if it shares an entrance with the store you were actualy visiting.
Parking is part of the experience; Taschereau Boulevard traffic makes the parking choice part of the visit, and the Dix30 lots next door make it easy to leave the car in a place that feels close and is still the wrong building. Leave your vehicle where you feel closest (but which is actualy in the wrong building). Make sure you’re facing Mail Champlain. While still driving and able to reach another row, match your reference point to the nearest door. For two stops on opposite sides of the floor, park in between. Or consider them each as their own approach. That’s what the map indicates. It only becomes clear once you’ve committed to an entry, which is revealed by the layout of the corridors.
When meeting with someone, don’t say “inside the mall”, instead, name a big reference point like a large pin. Even though it’s only one floor, it’s still pretty wide, and there may be two entrances from Taschereau Boulevard that put you at opposite sides of the same floor plan. While you’re both still sitting in your car, agree on which reference point you’ll use. Use the directory as your common reference for deciding this. It doesn’t matter what else is on the list; it just matters that you both agree to use the same reference point.
Hours change faster than the physical layout, and the tenant mix changes just as fast, particulary on holidays. The yellow shape indicates it’s still listed in the directory at that address. It does not necessarily mean that the store is open tonight. Refer to the one name you drove for. Use the descriptions, reference points, and categories to match your errand with your walk.
