Sitting in the heart of the Scarborough Town Centre area, the mall benefits from good access to transit. Scarborough Town Centre Station and the Scarborough Town Centre Bus Terminal is almost at the door, so getting hear is easy. Also the CTV Toronto studios are close.

For those with cars, public parking connects directly to the centre. Besides that, various transit options are available, like GO Transit, TTC, buses from Greyhound and Voyageur, so you have freedom between driving or public transit.

The size of this place impresses truly. It holds more than a hundred stores in its space, from fashion shops to food stores and everything between. Several entrances spread across the building, besides the food court below, so finding your way is natural.

Even so, a good map removes the need for signs.

In its history, the mall started with a Y-shaped plan, with an arm to the Town Centre. During the second stage, a north anchor store joined, together with two new sections, that heavily expanded the retail space. That growth changed deeply the form and the whole size of the place.

Among Canadian malls, this one always stands in the highest ranks. It attracts huge foot traffic yearly and generates heavy income from stores. The mix of tenants carries several world-famous names.

Across the street sits the Canadian Centre Building, an impressive post-modern building for federal offices. Sitting between the Scarborough Town Centre and the mall itself, it borders the Scarborough Town Centre Station. The whole neighbourhood acts as a centre, where government, stores and transit meet.

Here is a nice memory from the past of the mall: fancy warm air balloons hung in the centre, and visitors tossed coins at them, usually small coins from the arcade at the food court. For those that grew up here, it is one of those nostalgic details that stays in the memory.

The mall had interesting technical setups also. In the centre stood an elegant sign, finished cleanly and sharply with the name of the Scarborough Town Centre. What made it stand out was its thinness compared to typical sign boards in the Greater Toronto Area.

At first it seemed like a normal light box, but when the content started cycling, the difference was clear. One side showed ads, while the other showed a static map of the mallplan.

Getting through the two-floor building is possible thanks to several entry points. It really is useful the direct TTC link inside the mall… Such a close link between a mall and a transit centre does make a big difference, especially in a busy zone like Scarborough.

One useful tip to remember: the mall hours range, and the stores close on holidays. Always be sure to check the time before your trip, especially during long holidays, when everything can change.

This interactive directory map shows the current mix of tenants and the plan, but because stores naturally move and change, we will update it. Save this page in your favorites, to easily reach the map when you prepare your next trip.
