CrossIron Mills has many anchor stores, among them Bass Pro Shops and others, together with more than hundred stores, restaurants and entertainment spots. It sits beside the crossing of the QE2 highway and road 566, directly between Airdrie and the city limit of Calgary. So arriving hear from any direction is quite simple.
Ivanhoe Cambridge owns and manages the mall. During its opening it was called the newest shopping space in Calgary, and it brought several firsts to Alberta. Bass Pro Shops, Calvin Klein Outlet, Pro Hockey Life, Hugo Boss Outlet, Coach Factory and Coach Men were all first in Alberta when they opened here.
In CrossIron Mills shopping turns mostly around outlets and low price purchases. Most of the stores offer products at reduced prices, which attracts many folks. Big brands with outlets mix with specialty stores, so that the selection is truly wide.
If you need clothes, outdoor gear or household items, you will probably find something here.
Also the food court has good size. Here sit full sized restaurants in the area of the court, plus some smaller stores and stalls. Also outside the court there are more restaurants and cafes through the whole centre.
So getting something to eat should not be difficult.
Entertainment also plays a part in the mix. It does not limit only to buying. The centre offers different fun activities, though the exact list changes over time, when new stuff arrives or disappears.
Arriving without a car is still possible. CrossIron Mills works with taxis and rideshare services, where one can show a receipt at Guest Services for a small benefit. It is nice help for those who do not like to drive.
And for those who drive themselves, the closeness tothe highway makes everything easier.
Here is a fun detail that does not relate to shopping: there is a trail near CrossIron Mills. That is a walking path that takes around one to one and a half hours to finish. It includes a bit of climbing.
So if you want to stretch your legs before or after a trip to buy, that is a good option.
Remember one small thing: the hours of stores can differ. Not every store follows the same schedule, so check before for a certain store. The centre itself has special hours during holidays and events like Black Friday.
With more than two hundred stores, restaurants and entertainment spots, CrossIron Mills ranks among the main shopping destinations in the Calgary area. The focus on outlets gives it a different feeling than a typical mall. It works well for finding discounts and seeing a wide variety of brands under one roof.
